Our resident DJ, DJ Bobby Speed. About DJ Bobby speed:
Born in Funkadelphia, a small city on the north coast of Devon. Bobby Speed was raised on a diet of Gamble and Huff, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Barry White, Michael Jackson, Motown and James Brown…….…So it wasn't long before, armed with the beginnings of a record collection and a pair of 1210s, he was djing at the Shire Horse, St. Ives...Via London, Bobby ended up buying a club in Bristol and The Silent Peach opened it's doors in February 1998 with one objective: to give Bristol a club devoted to real house music, with a touch of Studio 54 hedonism thrown in...The defining moment in the history of the Peach was the visit of Kenny Carpenter, "The most blissed out DJ in the world" for a fun packed evening with queues up Park Street, a great atmosphere and Kenny, shirt off, spinning disco classics and dancing around the mirrorball until six in the morning. But all good things come to an end and soon the Silent Peach became Nocturne and Bobby was flying solo to the sound of a different beat...House music was consigned to the cellar and the record box was now filled with r'n'b, soul, funk and hip hop...New Years Eve 2003 saw Bobby Speed, Diggz and Ronnie Herel playing for Radio 1’s NYE programme from The Fez Club...2004 saw 2close winning club night of the year at the annual Po Na Na Awards... 2004 saw the switch towards Jazz and Broken Beats with the conception of Jazzmatazz. ..At the beginning of 2005, Bobby won the DJ of the year award at the annual Po Na Na / Barvest awards...In October 2005, Bobby took over the running of a nightclub, Luna, in Clifton and set up Cool Struttin with James Morton. Some would say it has become Bristol’s best ever Jazz Night hosting world famous musicians such as Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Andy Sheppard, The Bamboos and Dave O’Higgins...2007 has mostly seen Bobby going back to his roots and playing 80s music, electro [original stuff] and disco...
